matrix

the project should seek categorize an anthology of tested practices and research conclusions on the basis of those priority themes. the information gathered should be exhibited on standard template with the purpose of uncovering and displaying in a logical method the context. the principle aim of the matrix is to facilitate mutual learning through face-to-face contact between yeoville's actors and agents, researchers and combining knowledge demand with research and a best in-depth look-see. show us what you see and have seen.

safiyya asks

just a few questions regarding the next presentation...

by a matrix do u mean we need to fill in the 1 that you posted on the blog or do we need to just use a normal conventional matrix??
if we have to fill in the 1 on the blog, that would mean that the entire project needs to be done by next week??

please could you post the revised objectives onto the blog.

solam replies

the matrix on the blog the graphic course outline in terms of output.
by now the class has been divided into groups and themes that interlink + intertwine,
but all of you have priorities, or to say it in different words,
each group dissects, assesses + analysis yeoville through different lenses: living and working etc.

this then means that each group has to develop their own matrix
y-day, today, tomorrow (with different emphasis)
major themes: e.g. living and working
and possible connections to other themes and|or subthemes.

i hope this clarifies and helps.
keep up the good work you are doing.

The representation of social space: mapping the city
The aim here is to offer a diverse account of the city, primarily through a process of ‘mapping’. The intention is to describe how space can be constructed through a series of networks and relational systems and then go on to explore the different ways in which these spaces are revealed in film, visual images, music, architecture, audio + text.

Economic and cultural [dis]enterprise and [un] developments have made a real and strong change to the landscape of Yeoville. But whilst these [un]developments generally bode well for a certain sector's economic growth, there is a danger that the memory and reality of historical spaces are erased in favour of the new + recently emergent physical and psychological constructions.

How we document and archive these changes is a challenge for all those involved with research and necessarily bound up with notions of value and ownership.

Open City: Designing Coexistence

In an age when migration is changing the face of many cities, when mass mobility and communication are altering our perception of distance and difference, when individualism has become a driving force of social life, the Open City is a tenuous notion. As our cities grow and diversify, the question is no longer if we want to live together, but how to live together - how to share the resources and opportunities cities offer.
